The announcement was punctuated by loud applause and cheers from the mostly Army audience.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Army strong\u00e2\u20ac\u009d replaces \u00e2\u20ac\u0153an Army of one.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Created by Leo Burnett Worldwide, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153an Army of one\u00e2\u20ac\u009d had been the Army\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s recruiting slogan since 2001.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Army strong\u00e2\u20ac\u009d is intended to evoke soldiers\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 physical and emotional strength, and the advertisement pushes strength of character and strength of purposes.<\/p>\n<p>The Army plans to roll out the advertisements on November 9.<\/p>\n<p>McCann Erickson of New York took over the Army\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s advertising contract in March. Some of the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s other clients include MasterCard, Black &#038; Decker, Johnson &#038; Johnson, and Microsoft.<\/p>\n<p>The Army contract is estimated to be worth up to $1.35 billion for up to five years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sgt. Hook has the <a href=\"http:\/\/sgthook.com\/2006\/10\/09\/army-strong\/\">new video<\/a> and is asking for comments.  As one who nevered cared for the previous slogan and felt it ran counter to the teamwork nature of the Army, I think it&#8217;s a huge improvement.  It emphasizes the right messages and the different kinds of strength possessed while coming across as both inspirational and powerful.  I dig the music, too.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, the <em>Army Times<\/em> article goes on to list all of the campaign slogans the Army has used since becoming an all-volunteer force, and they are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Army wants to join you\u00e2\u20ac\u009d: 1971-73.<\/li>\n<li>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Join the people who\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve joined the Army\u00e2\u20ac\u009d: 1973-1979.<\/li>\n<li>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153This is the Army\u00e2\u20ac\u009d: 1979-1981.<\/li>\n<li>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Be all you can be\u00e2\u20ac\u009d: 1981-2001.<\/li>\n<li>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153An Army of one\u00e2\u20ac\u009d: 2001-2006.<\/li>\n<li>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Army strong\u00e2\u20ac\u009d: Starts now<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Looking at the field, it&#8217;s easy to see why &#8220;Be all you can be&#8221; enjoyed such a long run &#8212; the others are pretty weak.
