{"id":75,"date":"2004-08-03T22:03:36","date_gmt":"2004-08-04T03:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=75"},"modified":"2004-08-26T23:06:29","modified_gmt":"2004-08-27T04:06:29","slug":"army-conducts-lightning-raid-to-nab-four","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/targetcentermass.net\/?p=75","title":{"rendered":"Army Conducts Lightning Raid to Nab Four"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Army released the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.defendamerica.mil\/articles\/aug2004\/a080304b.html\" target=\"_blank\">news<\/a> today of a July 30 raid that utilized speed, efficiency and professionalism to net four probable bad guys.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>U.S. soldiers from Company B, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment and an attached platoon from 8th Engineer Battalion conducted a successful four-target-simultaneous cordon and knock raid July 30, detaining four suspected terrorists in four different homes in Al Doura.<\/p>\n<p>Four of the intended six targets were allegedly involved in the killing of four Russians who worked at the Al Doura power plant in May, according to Capt. Jeff Mersiowsky, Company B commander.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153All four houses we hit contained personnel we were looking for, so we didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have any dry holes,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Mersiowsky said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s always a concern to go into a house and have to disrupt someone\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s life and realize you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re in the wrong house.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>An added success to the mission was the speed in which it was executed.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We took about 30 minutes to search the house,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Staff Sgt. Michael Clay, 8th Engineer Battalion team leader. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153From the time we left to the time we came back was about 40 minutes.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Just as I pointed out earlier today about the <a href=\"http:\/\/targetcentermass.com\/index.php?p=77\" target=\"_blank\">Pakistanis&#8217; recent string of success<\/a>, this raid is another example of a crack in a terror cell leading to greater opportunities.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The objectives and locations were developed when the company found information about a possible terrorist cell during a farm raid in Al Doura.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153In that cache the farmer was detained and he was the first person in the cell we found. After we got him, pieces of the cell started to unravel with information,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Mersiowsky said. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153We didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t realize how big the cell was until we got an informant.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>With four more terrorists off the streets and one of them a possible leader to the cell, Company B has taken a big step forward to taking anti-Iraq force insurgents off the streets of Al Doura.<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Every time we pull someone out of there it makes a big difference here.
