  • Carnival of Liberty III

The latest installment of the Life, Liberty, Property community‘s Carnival of Liberty is up over at Eric’s Grumbles Before the Grave. As has been the case with the first two editions, there’s plenty on fine reading there to be had.

While visiting the carnival, feel free to check out the rest of host Eric Cowperthwaite’s fine blog

  • Carnival of Liberty II

Dan Melson of Searchlight Crusade has collected the recent efforts of the Life, Liberty, Property community for the second Carnival of Liberty (also posted on the community’s group blog). Got me some reading to do.

Again, no entry from Target Centermass, as I apparently either hate liberty or just suck. No, seriously, I have one in mind that I haven’t typed up yet. Hopefully I’ll find the time for Carnival of Liberty III, coming soon from my ol’ blogging pal and LLP community founder Eric Cowperthwaite of Eric’s Grumbles Before the Grave.

  • The First Carnival of Liberty

Brad Warbiany of The Unrepentant Individual has collected the recent efforts of the Life, Liberty, Property community into the blogosphere’s first-ever Carnival of Liberty (also posted on the community’s group blog). Go give a gander to some fine poliblogging.

Alas! No entry from Target Centermass, as this last week has been rather hectic. You know, best laid plans, good intentions, all that rot. Hopefully I’ll get my act together for Carnival of Liberty II, coming soon from Dan Melson of Searchlight Crusade.

  • Bloggers, Become Just Another Number

Okay, so Phil pointed me earlier towards a survey, to which I subjected myself. JohnL reminded me to post my proof of participation.

    Take the MIT Weblog Survey

  • SCOTUS Issues Rulings

The blogosphere responds in interesting ways.

For example, I present the Constitution Death Pool (hat tip to the Jawa Report).

Hmmmm … there’s some potential for that blog. Goodness knows, there’s a wealth of material for the authors to harvest.

  • LLP Graphics: Just Some Ideas

Okay, I was asked to do some graphics for the new Life, Liberty, Property community. That’s my mistake for having voluntarily done some banners for Eric. I did my time in the uniform — I should’ve know better than to volunteer for any work detail. As an aside, never let a drill sergeant know you can type. Trust me on this.

I dawdled and, in the intervening time, GuyS came up with some buttons. As his effort was in line with one of my concepts, I have happily swiped it and just thrown some space around it. In the choices below, the files are all jpegs. I did all my work in bitmaps and, if any are wanted for further usage, they will be saved as png files. This will mean a lower degree of compression distortion than in these jpegs, at little or no space cost.

Anyway, here are my efforts to date (UPDATE: png files are now available):

Any feedback is, of course, appreciated. We are talking about a voluntary collection of individuals, after all.

  • Life, Liberty, Property Hits the Ecosystem

No, this is not related to the recent Kelo decision. Well, not directly.

Eric from Eric’s Grumbles Before the Grave has established a new community as part of the Truth Laid Bear‘s blogosphere ecosystem. The group is appropriately called Life, Liberty, Property and is meant for bloggers whose political beliefs are of a libertarian bent. Other plans for the LLP community are being discussed, including a possible spin-off group or best-of type blog. Personally, I’ve added a link and a community blogroll script to my menu column in a new “Communities” section.

Additional blogging may be light or non-existent tonight, as I have happily taken on the task of creating some potential graphics for the group. Meanwhile, feel free to check out the blogs of the other members of Life, Liberty, Property.

  • Has It Really Been a Year?

This blog started with a fire command.

That first post ended as follows:

Well, let’s just see how it goes.

And how has Target Centermass gone? Well, I’ve obviously found it rewarding enough to stick with it past my initial personal goal of a three-month trial. It’s been satisfying enough to leave behind Blogspot and actually fork over some money (twice, actually) for a domain to keep up my little self-indulgence.

Traffic-wise, TCm hasn’t been an overnight success — or even an overyear success, for that matter. Still, I consider it a success to date, if only for the interaction with and attention I’ve enjoyed receiving from other bloggers I respect. It’s been a fun ride that I think I’ll continue for a while; thanks, John, Phil, Eric, JohnL, Chad, Alan, Scott, Raven, GuyS, and Damian (I reserve the right to update this list to catch anybody I’ve overlooked). Seriously, thanks. Y’all have made this a pleasure.

Thanks again to the inspirations that got me blogging:

In summation, happy blogiversary to me. What’s next?

Well, let’s just see how it goes.

  • A Music Meme

I’ve been tagged with another meme, this time by Phil at Shades of Gray (Umbrae Canarum). Luckily, this one’s a snap.

Okay, new meme: what are your top three songs to listen to whilst running? And if you have the server space, will you post one or all of them for the rest of us to download? (If running is not your preferred method of exercise — which more or less guarantees your intelligence — well, songs that you would listen to are just fine.)

First, I’d like to point out that running is not my favorite form of exercise. I’d rather get my workout in some kind of sporting activity, be it lacrosse, tennis, racquetball or a handfull of others.

As to my running songs, I’ll just list what’s on my mp3 player from when I was last running regularly:

    • (Warm-up) “Princes of the Universe” — Queen
    • “Bottom Line (Extended Mix)” — Big Audio Dynamite
    • “Me, Myself and I” — De La Soul
    • “It Wasn’t Me” — Shaggy
    • “American Soviets (Extended Mix)” — CCCP
    • “Big Pimpin” — Jay-Z
    • (Closing sprint) “In the End” — Linkin Park
    • (Cool-down) “Black Coffee in Bed” — Squeeze

I think it’s an interesting mix.

Now, which three bloggers to tag? Let’s go with two guys who have recently hit me with memes. Here you go, JohnL and Hammertime. For a third, I’ll pass it along to Eric as a means to celebrate his 30k hit.
